Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has reportedly decided not to attend his team's scheduled visit to the White House to celebrate their Super Bowl win.
On Monday (April 28), President Donald Trump is set to host the Eagles at the White House after the team won the championship game against the Kansas City Chiefs in February.
Hurts previously dodged a reporter's question about whether he would participate in the White House tradition.
"Umm," the Eagles QB mumbled to a reporter before declining to give a direct answer.
White House Correspondent Yamiche Alcindor reported Monday that Hurts had ultimately opted not to join the team for the visit.
"A White House official confirms to me that @Eagles quarterback @JalenHurts will not be visiting the White House when the Super Bowl champions come later this afternoon," she tweeted. "The White House says Hurts and other players who can’t attend had 'scheduling conflicts.'"
News of Hurts' decision comes after fellow Eagles star Saquon Barkley was spotted hanging out with Trump ahead of the team's White House celebration. The pair appeared to get off Marine One in New Jersey together and spent time at Trump's golf club in Bedminster.
Earlier this month, Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie said the White House visit is a "time-honored tradition," but noted that attendance is "optional" for individual players.
