Amazon is the latest company to face an economic boycott amid efforts to attack corporate greed and DEI rollbacks.

On Tuesday (March 7), a weeklong boycott of Amazon was launched by the People's Union USA. The grassroots organization urged consumers to avoid buying from the company for a week.

John Schwarz, the founder of People's Union USA, said the move is "not just a boycott," but rather a "calculated strike."

"Any type of drop in sales would be a success to us," Schwarz said in a statement.

The Amazon-specific boycott comes a week after the People's Union USA backed a 24-hour economic boycott against all major corporations. On February 28, Schwarz encouraged consumers to shop at small businesses and avoid mega-retailers.

On Friday, Schwarz urged consumers to not only cut out Amazon deliveries but also avoid Prime Video, Whole Foods, Zappos, Twitch, Alexa, Audible, Ring, and IMDb, all of which are owned by Amazon or a subsidiary. This would include unplugging Alexa devices, turning off Ring Cameras, and holding off on binging your favorite Prime Video series.

"This blackout is another massive message," Schwarz said.

The People's Union USA has organized more upcoming boycotts of major corporations, including Nestle from March 21 to March 28, Walmart from April 7 to 13, and General Mills from April 21 to 27.
