A murder-suicide has left three people dead in Texas, including a mother and daughter.

On Thursday (February 27), 58-year-old Deffenia Lynch and 41-year-old Iosha Shaw were found dead inside a residence in Hutto, Texas alongside Kerry Carter, 60, per PEOPLE.

Carter reportedly called police to say he had killed two people and was planning to take his own life. Officers responded to the residence and attempted to communicate with Carter, but they heard a gunshot before they could get inside the home.

Upon entering the residence, police said they found all three people deceased. The garage of the residence was closed and "filled with smoke," according to police. Officers also found accelerants in the car and the house.

It's unclear how Carter knew the mother and daughter. A motive behind the killings hasn't been announced.

“Please keep my Shaw family in your thoughts and prayers we lost 2 sweet souls on yesterday; a mother Daphney Lynch & her daughter Iosha Shaw,” loved one Aubri Taylor wrote on social media.

"R.I.P to my cousin Iosha Shaw and her mother Daphney Lynch," another family member, Nakirah Tameka, wrote.
