GOP Rep. Byron Donalds expressed his excitement over the start of President Donald Trump's second administration, calling him "daddy."
On Sunday (January 19), Donalds appeared on Fox News, where he suggested that Americans will be grateful when Trump starts enacting his new policies, including mass deportations.
“When Americans see deportations or repatriations happen, they’re gonna be like, ‘Thank you,’” Donalds said. “When they see the border closed, they’re gonna say, ‘This is what I voted for.’ When they see peace starting to break out again around the world, they’re gonna be like, ‘This is the stability that we were asking for.’”
“Daddy’s back,” the Florida Republican added.
Donalds isn't the first MAGA supporter to hail Trump as a father figure.
Rep. Lauren Boebert shared a post on X, celebrating Trump's inauguration with a "Daddy's home!" Turning Point USA cofounder Charlie Kirk also posted a photo of Trump on X, captioning it “Dad is home.”
Fox News host Tucker Carlson seemingly started the reference in remarks he made back in October.
At the time, Carlson suggested Trump would “spank” America like a misbehaving child after winning the election.
“When Dad gets home, you know what he says? ‘You’ve been a bad girl,’” Carlson previously. “‘You’ve been a bad little girl and you’re getting a vigorous spanking right now.’”
Social media users called out Donald's recent "daddy" comment as "creepy" and "weird." See their reactions below.
