Janet Jackson's Two-Part Documentary To Air On Lifetime & A&E

Janet Jackson’s life story is coming to Lifetime and A&E!

On Wednesday (March 3), the A + E Networks group announced the JANET documentary — a two-part, four-hour film that will simulcast on Lifetime and A&E in early 2022 to mark the 40th anniversary of Janet's 1982 debut album, Janet Jackson.

The pop icon will serve as executive producer along with Randy Jackson on the documentary, which has been underway for three years. Producers were granted "exclusive access to archival footage and never-before-seen home videos" while developing the documentary that "follows Janet as her family is going through the loss of her father, Joseph, the patriarch of the Jackson dynasty who passed in 2018," Variety reported.

Janet will also detail "the most talked-about moments of her life," including her 2004 Super Bowl appearance with Justin Timberlake, the reaction to the death of her brother, Michael Jackson, and her becoming a mother, the outlet reported.

Ben Hirsch is directing the documentary.
